Emergency SNAP Benefits

Description of Program and Relief

Emergency SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits are nutrition benefits (formerly known as food stamps) to help individuals buy food that are available within five days of their application. These offerings were previously in place, and have not changed in response to COVID-19.

To qualify for emergency SNAP benefits, a person must:

  • Qualify as low-income under one of the following categories:

  • A person’s monthly income, cash, and bank accounts are less than the person’s rent or mortgage plus their utility costs, OR

  • A person’s monthly income is less than $150 and the person’s cash and bank accounts are not more than $100, OR

  • At least one person in the household is a migrant farm worker and the person’s cash and bank accounts are not more than $100.

  • Have valid identification.
