On September 25, more than 400 Paul, Weiss lawyers and staff gathered to hear a virtual keynote address by groundbreaking psychologist, best-selling author and healer Dr. Maysa Akbar. In an hour-long event recommended by the Black Lawyers Network and hosted by the Inclusion Department, Dr. Akbar, Assistant Clinical Professor at Yale University and Chief Diversity Officer for the American Psychological Association, addressed the lived experiences and impact of racial trauma on people of color in professional organizations and within society at large.
Dr. Akbar is a board certified clinical psychologist and author of two books, Urban Trauma: A Legacy of Racism and Beyond Ally: The Pursuit of Racial Justice. She is an expert and thought leader in the fields of racial trauma, allyship, diversity, equity and inclusion.
