Donald F. Moore, former partner, then of counsel to the firm, passed away on Sunday, January 8th, 2012.
Don joined the firm after a two-year tour of duty as a U.S. Army officer in Germany, where he served in the Military Police.
Following enactment of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974, Don formed what became the firm's Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Practice Group under the auspices of the firm's Tax Department, while remaining a partner in the Personal Representation Department. Don represented employers and employees in connection with their benefit plans and executive compensation arrangements, corporate and individual executors and trustees in the administration of estates and trusts, and individuals seeking sophisticated estate planning.
For many years, Don also served as Santa Claus during Paul, Weiss family holiday parties. He was also well known for his love of poetry, specifically his ability to recite from memory the poems of Yeats and Burns.
Don received his LL.B. from St. John's University School of Law in 1962 and his A.B. from Fordham University in 1959. He served as editor-in-chief of the St. John's Law Review and student editor-in-chief of the Catholic Lawyer.
