Pro Bono Client Obtains Favorable Settlement in Prisoner's Rights Case
- Client News
- November 2, 2015
A Paul, Weiss pro bono client reached a favorable settlement after bringing section 1983 claims against the City of New York and various corrections officers for a vicious beating he suffered at the Bronx Criminal Court while he was awaiting arraignment, in retaliation for asking repeatedly for his bronchitis medication. Our client was able to reach the settlement after Judge Katherine Forrest of the Southern District of New York issued several decisions in his favor, including denying the defendants' motion to dismiss and granting the plaintiff's motions to compel discovery.
The Paul, Weiss team included litigation partner Roberta Kaplan, counsel Darren Johnson and associates Marissa Doran, Lisa McCabe, Trey Reliford, Ross Weingarten and Haiyun Zhao.
