EXPERIENCE
As counsel in the Litigation Department, Darren W. Johnson concentrates on general commercial litigation and counseling, with an emphasis on copyright, trademark, false advertising and defamation. He has represented prominent clients in numerous significant and widely publicized matters involving fine art, music, motion pictures, publishing and the fashion industry.
Mr. Johnson is a Lecturer in Law at Columbia Law School, where he teaches Trial Practice. He also is an adjunct professor of law at Brooklyn Law School, where he teaches the course “Litigating an Intellectual Property Case.”
Mr. Johnson is co-author of the chapter titled “Settling Copyright and Trademark Disputes” in the leading treatise on the law of settlement agreements and the settlement process, Settlement Agreements in Commercial Disputes: Negotiating, Drafting and Enforcement, published by Aspen Law and Business.
Mr. Johnson served as a member of the Art Law Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York from 2007-2014, and is the former Chair of the IP Subcommittee. He is also a former member of the IP Council of the Bar of the City of New York.
Mr. Johnson served as articles editor of the Columbia-VLA Journal of Law and the Arts, and was a teaching fellow for the Clinical Seminar in Law and the Arts.
