Description of Program and Relief
Food Stamp/Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
Each month, the Missouri Department of Social Services provides food assistance to individuals and families through SNAP benefits. In connection with the impact of COVID-19 the following changes are being made to the program:
SNAP is waiving all work requirements for able-bodied adults without dependents for a period of 90 days.
SNAP is also waiving the initial in-person interview for 90 days and waiving all adverse action notices for the same period of time.
The Department of Social Services will issue Pandemic Food Stamp/Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (P-SNAP) benefits. The P-SNAP benefit will provide all households eligible for SNAP with maximum amount for the household size and will automatically be added on the date the recipient received their April SNAP benefits.
Families with children eligible for free or reduced-price lunch in all Missouri school districts that close at least five consecutive days will get a Pandemic EBT card benefits for March, April and May. The Pandemic EBT card will provide free meals for the students otherwise eligible to receive benefits from their closed school. The amount is determined by the federal government and will be the face value of the number of missed meals. This benefit will automatically be added to the recipients EBT card.
