Description of Program and Relief
The Home Delivered Meals Program
Mississippi provides The Home Delivered Meals, a program through which meals are provided to eligible homebound persons in their homes. The program will continue uninterrupted, but in light of COVID-19, effort will be made to limit exposure to those receiving the meals.
Congregate feeding sites, where meals had previously been delivered so that senior citizens gather and eat in groups, have been suspended for eight weeks due to virus concerns. Instead, those meals will be delivered to individuals. These meals will be converted to shelf-stable food and frozen food, which will allow the program to provide more food for citizens at their homes.
