Description of Program and Relief

Pandemic Unemployment Assistance For People Affected by COVID-19 But Ineligible for Unemployment Benefits

Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) provides up to 39 weeks of unemployment benefits to workers who are not eligible for unemployment benefits (e.g., self-employed individuals, independent contractors, and workers with limited work history) who are unable to work as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions

Applicants may apply online here. Applicants will need to supply certain identifying information for themselves and their dependents and their wage records from 2019. Applicants may also receive a fact-finding questionnaire from the Department of Unemployment Assistance requesting additional information. Applicants must submit a certification for benefits every week that their work is impacted by COVID-19.
