Description of Program and Relief

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP or Formerly Food Stamps)

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as food stamps, helps low-income people buy food for healthy meals at participating stores. SNAP benefits increase household food buying power when added to the household's income. Although no specific guidance has issued with respect to COVID-19, affected families may qualify if they meet eligibility requirements (below).

SNAP recipients are able to buy eligible groceries from both Amazon and Walmart via their websites.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions

Verify eligibility by using the tools available at: https://benefind.ky.gov/

Basic eligibility requirements include being a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident; having no more than a specified amount of assets; having an annual household income (before taxes) that is less than or equal to amounts specified. The requirement to be able, available and actively searching for work has been waived.
