Aid to the Aged, Blind, and Disabled (AABD)

Description of Program and Relief

AABD provides cash benefits to people who are elderly, blind, or have a disability, and need money or medical care. These offerings were previously in place, and have not changed in response to COVID-19.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions

AABD funds are available to people who:

  • Are aged 65 years or older, blind, or disabled

  • Are a U.S. citizen or meet certain requirements for non-citizens

  • Live in Illinois

  • Either receive federal benefits from the Supplemental Security Income Program (SSI), or have been denied SSI because of income
