Description of Program and Relief
Georgia Food Stamp (SNAP) Program
The Georgia Food Stamp Program (federally known as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)) provides monthly food benefits to low-income individuals and families and provides economic benefits to communities. This program predates COVID-19 and is available to eligible participants at this time. The monthly benefits are issued via Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) and can be used to purchase food at grocery stores and farmers markets that accept EBT cards. EBT can also be used to buy groceries online from Walmart or Amazon. The program is administered by the Georgia Department of Family and Child Services (DFCS).

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions
In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be a resident of the State of Georgia and meet one of the following requirements:

You have a current bank balance (savings and checking combined) under $2,001, or
-
You have a current bank balance (savings and checking combined) under $3,001 and share your household with one of the following:

a person or persons age 60 or over, or
-
a person with a disability (a child, your spouse, a parent, or yourself)
