Description of Program and Relief

Emergency Meal Service for Children during Unanticipated School Closures

In response to unanticipated school closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) is currently operating its Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) to provide children with free meals while schools are closed. The program is providing free nutritious meals at certain emergency sites open to the public in low-income areas across Georgia, serving all children in those areas. Additionally, due to the exceptional circumstances, children will not be required to consume the provided meals on site, but are able to take meals home.

The emergency meal sites that are open to the public as of May 11, 2020 can be found here. Check here for any updates to the list of meal locations.
