Description of Program and Relief
County of San Diego, California: ‘Great Plates Delivered’ Meal Delivery Initiative
San Diego County is participating in California’s “Great Plates Delivered” initiative and will provide three home-delivered meals per day to qualifying adults who apply and are either 65 or over, or aged 60 to 64 and in a high-risk group for COVID-19 as defined by the CDC.
This initiative also aims to stimulate the economy by bringing employees back to work from the restaurant, hospitality, and transportation industries.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions
To be eligible for participation, individuals must be unable to prepare or obtain meals, have no other current assistance from other state or federal nutrition assistance programs, and be either 65 or over, or aged 60-64 and in a high-risk group for COVID-19 as defined by the CDC.
There are two ways for individual participants to apply to this program:

Call the Aging & Independence Services Call Center at (800) 339-4661 and select option 7. Representatives are scheduled to be available to assist callers between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Click here to complete an online form. After the form has been submitted online, the applicant will be contacted by program staff within one business day to confirm eligibility and complete enrollment.
