Paul, Weiss Adds Prominent Tax Partner
Brad Okun has joined Paul, Weiss as a partner in the firm's tax practice. Mr. Okun focuses his practice on the complex tax law aspects of mergers and acquisitions, restructurings and corporate finance. He also has experience advising limited liability companies and partnerships, as well as cross-border investing.
Among his current clients, Mr. Okun represents Apollo Management, L.P. in a variety of projects, including LBOs, fund formations, financings and leveraged recapitalizations. He led his team in representing affiliates of Apollo Global Management in connection with its reorganization, strategic investment by CALPERS and ADIA, a securities offering on GS TrUE and a public offering on the New York Stock Exchange.
Among his many successful representations, Mr. Okun led the tax structuring and implementation of the merger of Hexion Specialty Chemicals Inc., an Apollo Management L.P. portfolio company with $7.5 billion in annual sales, with Momentive Performance Materials. Mr. Okun represented CCMP Capital Advisors, LLC in its $635 million acquisition of Infogroup, the leading provider of data-driven and interactive resources for targeted sales, marketing and research solutions. He also acted as counsel in CCMP's definitive agreement with Triad Hospitals, Inc. and GS Capital Partners in a transaction valued at approximately $6.4 billion. Mr. Okun also represented Dynegy Inc. in its definitive agreement to sell their Midstream natural gas business for $2.35 billion to Targa Resources, Inc.
His work in the gaming industry includes his representation of Harrah's Entertainment, Inc., one of the world's largest casino operators, in a number of multi-billion dollar debt restructurings, reorganizations and in its $620 million acquisition of the 2,500-room Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. In addition, Mr. Okun represents such cruise and maritime companies as Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, Inc., Prestige Cruises, Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Principal Maritime Management LLC. Mr. Okun is currently involved in providing tax advice for various project financings, public offerings and acquisitions.
Prior to his move, Mr. Okun served as acting as chair of the tax department at O'Melveny & Myers.
