Paul, Weiss Pro Bono Case Featured in the New York Post
September 29, 2019
On September 29, 2019, the New York Post featured a story on Paul, Weiss pro bono client Pablo Fernandez, who served 24 years behind bars after being wrongfully convicted in 1996 of a murder he did not commit. Paul, Weiss has been fighting Mr. Fernandez’s wrongful conviction in state and federal courts since 2005. Finally, on September 13, 2019, New York State Supreme Court Justice Curtis Farber dismissed the criminal indictment against Mr. Fernandez. “Our joy is bittersweet,” said litigation partner David Brown. “The case against Mr. Fernandez was built from the beginning on police and prosecutorial misconduct, and perjury by government witnesses.” Mr. Fernandez told the Post, “It has been such a blessing for my mother, who is 83 years old, to see me as a free man again.”
