Slate published an article highlighting the efforts of Paul, Weiss to overturn "Mississippi's new anti-LGBTQ segregation law," which enables clerks to "refuse to license same-sex couples based on their religious belief that '[m]arriage is or should be recognized as the union of one man and one woman.'" The article notes that on behalf of its client the Campaign for Southern Equality (CSE), Paul, Weiss "secured a victory against Mississippi's same-sex marriage ban then successfully fought to overturn Mississippi's gay adoption law." The article concludes that although Mississippi "is zealously battling [CSE's] request to reopen the case," Paul, Weiss's "powerful reply brief" succeeded in "slapping down" the defendants' arguments against [CSE's] most recent motion.
The Paul, Weiss team included, among others, litigation partners Roberta Kaplan, Andrew Ehrlich, William Michael and Jaren Janghorbani and associates Joshua Kaye, Jacob Hupart, Zach Dietert, Jacob Taber and William Freeland.
