After a Legal Aid Society client was convicted of disorderly conduct for publicly protesting in Times Square, Paul, Weiss joined the defense team appealing his conviction. Following the submission of the opening appellate brief drafted by Paul, Weiss, the New York County District Attorney's Office conceded that the charging instrument against our client had been facially insufficient and that the charges against him should be dismissed. On September 12, 2016, the First Department agreed, reversing the client's conviction and holding that "the allegations in the accusatory instrument were jurisdictionally insufficient to meet the elements of disorderly conduct."
The Paul, Weiss team included, among others, litigation associate Neil Kelly.
