Pro Bono Client Achieves Victory in Housing Case

Paul, Weiss obtained financial relief and a temporary stay of eviction for a pro bono client with a debilitating medical condition. In July 2015, our client was served by her roommate with a 30-day notice of eviction, followed by a holdover petition. Paul, Weiss interposed a counterclaim for rent overcharge after learning that our client's roommate was charging our client for the entire rent due the landlord in violation of New York City Rules and Regulations Rent Stabilization Code. On the morning of trial, the parties agreed to a financial settlement and additional time for our client to vacate the apartment.
