Paul, Weiss Obtains Withholding of Removal for Jamaican Pro Bono Client

Paul, Weiss and the Center for Applied Legal Studies at Georgetown University Law Center obtained an order enabling our client to remain in the US. Our client is a Jamaican man who was persecuted by agents of a Jamaican political party on account of his family's support for an opposing political party. He was also attacked by the Jamaican police on account of his status as a deportee with mental disabilities and physical impairments. Law clerk Ekta Dharia and a Georgetown University Law Center student appeared in Baltimore Immigration Court where Judge Phillip Williams found the applicant's testimony was credible and the evidence demonstrated a clear probability that he would face persecution upon removal to Jamaica. As a result, Judge Williams issued an order withholding his removal.
The Paul, Weiss team included litigation partner Walter Ricciardi and associate Ekta Dharia.
