Paul, Weiss Obtains Victory for Pro Bono Client in VOLS Unemployment Insurance Case
On December 28, Paul, Weiss obtained a victory in an unemployment insurance case with its pro bono partner Volunteers of Legal Service (VOLS). As a participant in the VOLS unemployment insurance advocacy project, the firm represents clients who have been denied unemployment insurance benefits by the New York State Department of Labor. In a written opinion, the administrative law judge reversed the determination of the Department of Labor, holding that our client's actions did not constitute misconduct and that our client was therefore entitled to receive unemployment benefits. Our client was represented by litigation associates Agnetha Jacob and Noam Lerer, who were supervised by litigation partner Walter Ricciardi.
