Paul, Weiss Obtains Victory for Pro Bono Client in VOLS Unemployment Insurance Case
On January 28, Paul, Weiss obtained a victory in an unemployment insurance case with its pro bono partner Volunteers of Legal Service (VOLS). In a written opinion, the administrative law judge sustained the determination of the Department of Labor that our client was entitled to receive unemployment benefits and overruled the employer's objection that our client either had voluntarily quit without good cause or in the alternative had been discharged for misconduct.
Our client was represented by litigation associate Gregory Laufer, who was supervised by litigation partner Walter Ricciardi.
As a participant in the VOLS unemployment insurance advocacy project, the firm represents clients who have been denied unemployment insurance benefits by the New York State Department of Labor.
