Paul, Weiss Obtains Reversal of NYCHA Public Housing Denial
A team from the firm successfully convinced the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) to reinstate the application for public housing of our client, a 62-year-old, non-English speaking woman in poor health. NYCHA declared our client's application "dead," allegedly due to improper apartment selection on her part, which would mean that she would have to wait a year before being allowed to interview again for public housing. The firm filed an Article 78 petition in New York State Supreme Court, arguing that our client's selection was proper and that the regulations were arbitrary and capricious. Recently, NYCHA and Paul, Weiss settled the matter and NYCHA reinstated our client's application.
The Paul, Weiss team included litigation associates Alexander L. Alum, Adam J. Bernstein, Adam B. Felsenthal, senior case manager Jose M. Maldonado, and was supervised by partner Daniel J. Kramer.
