Paul, Weiss Files Post-Conviction Motion on Behalf of Pro Bono Client
- Client News
- February 13, 2019
As reported by the Chicago Tribune, Wisconsin State Journal, Wisconsin Public Radio and other media outlets, Paul, Weiss and co-counsel at the Wisconsin Innocence Project filed a post-conviction motion on behalf of a pro bono client, an in-home daycare provider convicted on April 8, 2009 and sentenced to 13 years in prison for the reckless homicide of a four-month-old in her care. The brief argues that our client deserves a new trial because the state’s key witness, who determined the cause of death, has changed his opinion based on new, exculpatory evidence showing other potential causes for the infant’s injuries or death. It also cites affidavits from several additional medical experts who find no indications of abuse.
The Paul, Weiss team includes litigation partner Craig Benson and associates Zachary Dietert, Sarah Ripa and Katherine Stewart.
