- October 7, 2014
Litigation associates Melissa Monteleone and Katriana Roh have been selected to receive the City Bar Justice Center's Jeremy G. Epstein Award for Outstanding Pro Bono Service, honoring the most outstanding volunteer attorneys in each of the Justice Center Projects. Melissa and Katriana were nominated for their outstanding volunteer work with the Refugee Assistance Project. The project represents individuals who have suffered torture and other forms of persecution in their home countries and who are seeking asylum in the U.S. The awards presentation will be held during National Pro Bono Week on Monday, October 20 at the City Bar in New York.
Melissa and Katriana obtained asylum for a Guyanese client who was abused by her husband and unaided by authorities in Guyana. Litigation partner Aidan Synnott supervised the matter. The Paul, Weiss team also included former associate Melanie Baptiste-Jean Noel.
