On July 25, the New York City Bar Association Committee on Capital Punishment presented a Norman J. Redlich Special Recognition Award to Paul, Weiss in honor of former partner Jay Topkis, who devoted decades to ensuring the effective representation of death row inmates. Speaking in memory of Jay were the Honorable Robert S. Smith, retired Associate Judge of the New York Court of Appeals and a former Paul, Weiss partner, and Professor Eric Freedman, the Siggi B. Wilzig Distinguished Professor of Constitutional Rights at Hofstra University School of Law and a former Paul, Weiss associate.
