Firm chairman Brad Karp was recognized as a 2019 “Equality Trailblazer” by The National Law Journal. Brad was recognized for his leadership within the private bar on numerous critically important social justice issues. As noted in the publication, last year, Brad published a series of op-eds, promoting gun control, highlighting voter suppression efforts and urging the private bar to fight the Trump administration’s policy of separating families at the U.S. border. Brad was also cited for helping coalesce the private bar in its efforts to reunify immigrant families and to hold manufacturers responsible for gun violence.
“Paul, Weiss has always taken on social justice causes. Whenever we’ve been presented with the opportunity to protect the rights of individuals and safeguard the rule of law, we have always jumped in,” Brad said in a Q&A published in the NLJ. “With the Trump administration’s continual assault against fundamental liberties and the rule of law, we find ourselves jumping in much more often.”
