Kannon Shanmugam Discusses Three Recent Second Circuit Arguments in The American Lawyer’s “Litigation Daily” Column

In the latest issue of The American Lawyer’s “Litigation Daily” column, litigation partner Kannon Shanmugam discusses how he prepared to argue three different appeals within the span of a week. In “A Second Circuit Residency? What It Took for Paul Weiss’s Kannon Shanmugam to Argue 3 Appeals in 1 Week,” Kannon describes how he organized his time ahead of oral arguments for Goldman Sachs in securities litigation, ExxonMobil in climate change litigation and Syntel in a trade secrets case. Kannon also talks about the moot courts he uses to prepare and the team work involved in preparing for these appeals.
“It was really rewarding to see how our team here really pulled together to get through these arguments,” Kannon says. “Although appellate arguments can seem solitary because there’s only one person at the podium, cases this complex take outstanding teams and our teams on these cases were second to none—and not just the teams [from] Paul Weiss, but our co-counsel as well.”
