Karen Dunn Publishes Op-Ed on Connecting the Dots from the Violence in Charlottesville to the Violence at the Capitol

January 12, 2021

Litigation partner Karen Dunn published an op-ed, “The Capitol mob followed the same violent playbook as the Charlottesville rioters. We have to hold them all accountable,” in the January 12 edition of the Jewish Telegraph Agency. Karen and litigation partners Jessica Phillips and Bill Isaacson are counsel in a federal lawsuit against the white supremacists, neo-Nazis and hate groups responsible for the violence during the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville in 2017.

In the op-ed, which was tweeted by MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, the authors discuss the parallels between the Unite the Right and Stop the Steal riots. At the core of both marches, the authors write, “is a vile, pervasive white supremacy that includes palpable anti-Semitism. From Camp Auschwitz shirts to Confederate flags and other white supremacist imagery, to the noose hung outside the Capitol, the motivation for these extremists’ violence is their bigotry.” The article also highlights that the violence in both Unite the Right and Stop the Steal had been telegraphed weeks in advance online.
