Description of Program and Relief
Washington State: Extension of Filing Deadline for All Businesses and Extension of Payment Dates for Those Unable to Pay State Taxes Due to COVID-19
The Washington State Department of Revenue has extended due dates for businesses filing monthly, quarterly, and annual state tax returns. Upon request, the Department will also work with taxpayers that have payment plan agreements to extend payment dates and reschedule planned audits. The action addresses a broad range of taxes: business and occupation tax, real estate excise tax, and other taxes administered by the Department, including tax deferrals for biotechnology and medical device manufacturing.

Dates Available
February 29, 2020 through the end of the state of emergency (yet to be determined)
Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions
The Department has issued new due dates for Quarter 1, 2020 quarterly state returns and 2019 annual state returns. The Quarter 1, 2020 return is now due June 30, 2020. The Annual 2019 return is now due June 15, 2020. Monthly tax return payments are generally due the 25th of the following month, and Quarter 2 returns are due July 31, 2020. Additionally, if an extension has not already been granted to a business, a one-time extension may be available to the business upon request. If a business has already been granted an extension and is unable to pay by the extended date, the Department is offering flexible, penalty-free payment plans. The Department requests that businesses still file their returns by the new due dates even if they are unable to pay.
