Description of Program and Relief

Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Nutrition Assistance

WIC is a food assistance program for women, infants, and young children. WIC provides money in the form of WIC EBT cards to buy healthy foods, and also provides nutrition education and counseling, breastfeeding support, and referrals for health care. Although no specific guidance has been issued with respect to COVID-19, affected families may qualify if they meet eligibility requirements (below).

WIC recipients are to contact their local WIC office for assistance involving individual accommodations.

Generally, WIC benefits are available to:

  • Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or just had a baby who have low to medium income

  • Infants and children under five years old living in families with low to medium income

  • If you are on Medicaid, TANF, or SNAP you meet the income eligibility guidelines for WIC. If you don’t qualify for these programs, you may still qualify for WIC by meeting the income guidelines for your household.
