Description of Program and Relief
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
TANF provides temporary financial assistance for families with children under age 18 who need financial support due to the death of a parent, absence of a parent from the home or the unemployment of a parent. This financial assistance can help pay for food, shelter, utilities, and expenses other than medical expenses. Although no specific guidance has issued with respect to COVID-19, affected families may qualify if they meet eligibility requirements (below).
