Description of Program and Relief
Resources to Support Student Learning During School Closures Due to COVID-19
Due to school closures, Rhode Island’s Office of Library & Information Services (“OLIS”) has compiled a list of free online learning and recreation resources for public library card holders, including downloadable eBooks, audiobooks and streaming videos.
Resources are available in the following categories: Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle School, High School, Higher Education, Adult Learning, and Recreation & Family.
Additionally, in partnership with OLIS, Ocean State Libraries, Rhode Island’s public library consortium, has extended the following deadlines:
-
Due dates on all items have been extended to May 1, 2020.
-
Expiring library cards have been reset to expire May 1, 2020 so that library users can make the most of ebooks and other digital resources and services.
-
Fines on all items that accrue from March 1, 2020 through the end of the COVID-19 crisis will be waived.
-
Existing holds will be honored. The ability to place new holds has been temporarily turned off.
-
The investment in ebooks and digital audiobooks in OSL’s eZone will be expanded so that patrons can continue to enjoy books and reading.
