Description of Program and Relief

Temporary Statewide Halt on Residential Evictions and Foreclosures

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf has signed an executive order temporarily postponing all residential evictions and foreclosures in the Commonwealth, in recognition of the potential economic consequences of the COVID-19 crisis. This relief will remain in effect through August 31, 2020.

The executive order does not relieve tenants or homeowners of their obligations to make rent or mortgage payments. Tenants and homeowners will still be responsible for any rent or mortgage payments they do not make during this time period. However, the Governor’s Office has urged residents to contact their landlords or mortgage servicers if they are struggling to make monthly payments to explore whether alternative arrangements are possible.
