Description of Program and Relief
Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program Application Deadline Extension
Pennsylvania’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program offers property tax and rent relief to senior citizens, widowers, and persons with disabilities. Homeowners and renters who qualify for the program may claim standard rebates of up to $650 (depending on household income); and homeowners eligible for supplemental rebates can claim up to $975. The deadline to apply for the program has been pushed back from June 30, 2020 to December 31, 2020 in response to the COVID-19 crisis.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions
Standard eligibility rules apply. To be eligible for relief under the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program, a Pennsylvania resident must be age 65 or older, a widow or widower age 50 or older, or a person with disabilities age 18 or older. To be financially eligible, the resident must have an annual income of $35,000 or less (for homeowners) or $15,000 or less (for renters). Half of Social Security income is excluded from the annual income calculation. Residents must apply to the program to receive benefits.
