Description of Program and Relief

Medical Assistance Program (Medicaid)

The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services provides health care for qualifying state residents through the Commonwealth’s Medical Assistance program (Medicaid). The program works to ensure that eligible adults and children have access to needed health care services by enrolling and paying providers to deliver covered services to eligible recipients.

Residents can apply online through the COMPASS platform, which can be accessed here.

Residents who wish to apply to the Medicaid program via telephone should call the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Consumer Service Center for Health Care Coverage at 1-866-550-4355.

Residents who have questions about their insurance coverage and available benefits should contact the Pennsylvania Department of Insurance at 1-877-881-6388.

Those who are enrolled in Medicaid should direct questions about coverage to the Pennsylvania Department of Health at 1-800-537-8862 (for adults) or 1-800-986-KIDS (for children).
