Description of Program and Relief
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Extension of Certification Periods, Adjustment of Reporting Requirements
SNAP enables low-income families to buy nutritious food with Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards. SNAP recipients spend their benefits to buy eligible food in authorized retail food stores/farmers markets. These offerings were previously in place, and certain extensions and waivers of certain requirements have been granted in response to COVID-19. Oklahoma Human Services is extending certification periods for households scheduled to expire in March, April, and May 2020 for 6 months until September, October, and November 2020. Ongoing SNAP households that already receive the maximum monthly allotment for their household size are not eligible for Emergency Allotments.
