Description of Program and Relief
Small Business Response and Recovery Fund
The fund aims to help small businesses in Columbus impacted by COVID-19 through three different programs:

Small Business Recovery Grants: Provides financial assistance to existing small businesses operating in low and moderate income (LMI) areas of the City of Columbus and Franklin County with the goal of job retention. Grants range up to $10,000 per applicant.

Small Business Return Safely (PPE) Grants: Provides financial support to assist existing small businesses throughout the City of Columbus and Franklin County in securing PPEs and/or making necessary COVID-19 health and safety improvements required to re-open their businesses safely for their customers and employees. Grants range up to $5,000 per applicant, with a 1:1 matching requirement with the qualifying business.

Small Business Pivot Loan Program: Provides small business in LMI areas of the City of Columbus access to low interest loan funding if the applicant has identified new markets for existing products, new services or new product lines that the business can expand into with the goal of maintaining existing business operations, retaining existing jobs, creating new jobs or making capital investments due to unexpected market growth. Loan amounts range up to the lesser of 50% of the total business/project expansion/opportunity cost or $20,000.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions

Small Business Recovery Grants: Available to businesses operating in LMI neighborhoods within the City of Columbus’ municipal boundaries and LMI businesses outside of the City within Franklin County that (i) have less than 25 employees (with preference given to businesses with less than five employees) and (ii) had sales reduced by more than 25% by the COVID-19 outbreak since March 17, 2020.

Small Business Return Safely (PPE) Grants: Available to businesses operating within the City of Columbus’ municipal boundaries and those operating within Franklin County.

Small Business Pivot Loan Program: Available to businesses operating in LMI neighborhoods within the City of Columbus’ municipal boundaries that have less than 25 employees (with preference given to businesses with less than five employees). Businesses operating outside the City may contact the Economic and Community Development Institute at https://www.ecdi.org/invest/loan-program for information about loan financing.
Application Deadlines (If Applicable)
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until July 17, 2020 at 5 p.m. EST. or when funding is exhausted.
