Description of Program and Relief
Extension of City Net Profit Tax Returns Filing Deadline
For all net profit tax returns due before July 15, 2020, including Fiscal Years with due dates of May and June, and all related tax return payments and estimated tax payments due before July 15, 2020, the Cincinnati Tax Commissioner has extended the deadline to file, until July 15, 2020. Both penalty and interest will be waived during the time of the extension.
The extension does not extend the due dates for remitting employers’ withholding tax. Since Ohio and Cincinnati have waived the “20-day rule” for the duration of the health emergency plus 30 days, employers should continue to withhold Cincinnati tax for those employees working from their home rather than from their normal work location within Cincinnati, regardless of the location of their home.
The filing extension does not relieve any taxpayer’s past or present obligation to pay taxes.
