Description of Program and Relief
Unplanned Pregnancy Services
North Carolina Pregnancy Services provides help and support in solving medical, social, educational, and psychological problems associated with unplanned pregnancies. Services may include counseling and information to help recipients make voluntary choices regarding adoption, parenting, or terminating the pregnancy. Services may also include assistance in arranging for and utilizing other needed services including residential care.
The State Maternity Home Fund, a component of Pregnancy Services, can provide for maternity housing or alternative care services for an expectant mother who is experiencing an unplanned pregnancy, as well as payment of residential care with related services.
While no specific guidance has been provided for individuals affected by COVID-19, expectant mothers adversely impacted by COVID-19 should be eligible if they meet general eligibility requirements.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions
Generally, to be eligible, applicants must be expectant mothers who are experiencing an unplanned pregnancy and unable to maintain adequate housing during the last 183 days of her prenatal period. Applicants must also have inadequate financial resources to meet the residential costs in an approved living arrangement as determined by a social worker, and be current residents of the state.
