Medicaid

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) provides health care for qualifying North Carolina residents through Medicaid. The program works to ensure that eligible adults and children have access to needed health care services by enrolling and paying providers to deliver covered services to eligible recipients. Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions

Information on Medicaid eligibility is available here. All individuals receiving Medicaid in North Carolina must either have a Social Security number or have applied for one, and must be residents of North Carolina and be United States citizens or immigrants admitted to the United States under a specific immigration status. Individuals may be eligible for Medicaid if they earn a low income, are under the age of 21 or over the age of 65, are disabled, or are in need of long-term care.
