Food and Nutrition Services (Food Stamps)

Food and Nutrition Services is a food assistance program that provides low-income families the food they need for a nutritionally adequate diet. While no specific guidance has been provided for those affected by COVID-19, individuals and families adversely impacted by COVID-19 should be eligible if they meet general eligibility requirements.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions

Information on Food and Nutrition Services eligibility is available at https://www.ncdhhs.gov/assistance/low-income-services/food-nutrition-services-food-stamps.  People may be eligible for Food and Nutrition Services if their total income falls below the appropriate gross income limits for your household size. Some individuals must participate in Food and Nutrition Services as one household even though they purchase and prepare their meals separately. All individuals receiving Food and Nutrition benefits must be United States citizens or immigrants admitted to the United States under a specific immigration status. Some households may be subject to a resource test.
