Description of Program and Relief

Accelerated Authorization to Practice Nursing

Students who have graduated from registered nursing or practical nursing programs approved by the Board of Registration in Nursing and senior nursing students who are attending the last semester of a registered nursing or practical nursing program may begin to practice nursing and provide health care services in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Dates Available

This policy is effective April 9, 2020 and shall remain in effect until rescinded or until the Governor’s declared State of Emergency is terminated, whichever happens first.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions

The status of students is subject to verification. The students must be employed by or providing health care services at the direction of a licensed health care facility or provider; directly supervised while providing health care services; and providing the health care services in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.
