Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Cash Benefit and Services – Successful Families Program

Kansas provides Temporary Assistance for Needy Families through the Successful Families program. In addition to a cash benefit, Successful Families provides parents with short-term training and other services to help them become employed and move toward self-sufficiency. Legal guardians, as well as grandparents/relatives caring for their relative children, can receive services and support as well. Although there is no specific provision related to COVID-19, families may be eligible if they meet the eligibility requirements below.

To participate, families must have at least one child in their home under the age of 18 (which can include an unborn baby), and meet certain income and limited resource requirements. Income and limited resource requirements are assessed on an individual basis. Adults applying must work or participate in work activities in order to receive cash assistance unless they are needed to take care of a child under 2 months of age or take care of a disabled household member.
