Description of Program and Relief
Relief Measures for Local Businesses Relating to Permits and Approvals
To assist local businesses, the City of Santa Ana has enacted a number of relief measures extending to deadlines for permits and approvals, including:
-
All land use and planning approvals that expire between April 15, 2020 and October 1, 2020 are automatically extended for six months from the applicable expiration date.
-
Temporary banner and special event display permits approved on or before March 17, 2020 and with expiration dates on or before October 1, 2020 are automatically suspended for six months from the applicable expiration date.
-
Employees of commercial and medical cannabis businesses in Santa Ana who normally would have to undergo a live scan and criminal background check prior to starting work will not be required to undergo either until May 31, 2020. These workers, however, must begin the background check process and pay all applicable fees prior to Santa Ana issuing a temporary work permit, which will be valid for no more than six months from the date it is issued.
-
Santa Ana has granted a sixty day extension of time to respond or take action for anyone who has received a notice of violation or citation for non-life safety nuisance or code violations from the Quality of Life team. The City also granted a sixty day extension of time for anyone who received a Code Enforcement citation or Notice of Violation for which some form of construction requiring plan review, permits, or land use approval is required.
