Description of Program and Relief

Reduced-Cost Essential Rides for Seniors and Adults with Disabilities (Essential Trip Card Program)

San Francisco’s Essential Trip Card (ETC) program will provide reduced-cost taxi rides for seniors and adults with disabilities who need to make essentials trips during the duration of San Francisco’s Stay at Home Order.

The ETC will provide two to three round trips per month at 20% of the cost of a regular taxi fare. All taxis in San Francisco will accept the card to pay for essential trips, such as trips to grocery stores or to medical appointments. Customers who pay $6 will receive $30 in value on a debit card, and customers who pay $12 will receive $60 in value on a debit card. Cards can be refilled once a month during this temporary program.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions

Adults over age 65 and adults with disabilities can apply for the ETC program by calling 311 and mentioning the program. When you call 311, staff will be available weekdays between 9:00 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. to sign up participants or answer questions.
