Description of Program and Relief

County of San Mateo, California: San Mateo County Strong Fund

The Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County, in partnership with the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, has established the San Mateo County Strong Fund to support County residents, small businesses, and nonprofit organizations that have endured economic losses as a result of the public health response to COVID-19. The Board of Supervisors has seeded the Fund with $3 million and established a website at which individual donors can contribute to the Fund. The County, the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, and the San Mateo County Economic Development Association (SAMCEDA) will launch a parallel effort to seek major contributions from large companies, philanthropic foundations, and other entities and individuals capable of donating large amounts.

The Silicon Valley Community Foundation is developing a process by which individuals, small businesses, and nonprofits can apply for Fund assistance, but the application process has not yet been established.
