Description of Program and Relief

Free Childcare for Essential Workers

The City of Sacramento Youth, Parks and Community Enrichment Department has established a limited free childcare program for children ages 5 to 12 whose parents are employed in certain essential services.

The childcare program can currently accommodate up to 350 children, with the possibility for expansion, and will be located in eight community centers throughout the city, open on weekdays, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Interested parents should register their child(ren) by clicking here and selecting the location of choice.

Currently available through July 2, 2020.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions

Children must be ages 5-12. Parents must present identification establishing that they fall into the following categories (in order of higher to lower priority): (1) City of Sacramento first responders; (2) front-line health care workers who work in the City of Sacramento; or (3) essential City of Sacramento employees.
