Description of Program and Relief

Unemployment Benefits

Unemployment benefits are generally available to individuals who have been separated from employment through no fault of their own. The Arkansas Department of Commerce has waived the one week waiting period for individuals claiming unemployment insurance (UI), allowing claims to be paid more quickly. The current requirement that a recipient of UI must search for work for 30 days is also waived, so long as prior employment is temporarily closed as a result of COVID-19.
