Description of Program and Relief
Temporary Moratorium on Evictions for Small Businesses and Nonprofits Affected by COVID-19
Pursuant to Executive Order 2020-21, evictions are temporarily suspended for commercial tenants unable to pay rent due to financial hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. A commercial tenant who seeks a delay in eviction, lock out, or deferral of rent payments shall notify the landlord or property owner in writing as soon as practicable with supporting documentation demonstrating their inability to pay rent due to temporary financial hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. This moratorium does not relieve any obligation to pay rent or comply with any other obligation that a business may have under a lease or rental agreement.
