Description of Program and Relief

Automatic Six-Month Extension of Certification of All Public Assistance Programs

Recently issued guidance from the Department of Health and Social Services’ Division of Public Assistance states that all Alaskan “public assistance programs, including SNAP, Medicaid, Temporary Assistance, Adult Public Assistance, and Senior Benefits” will be automatically re-certified for an additional six months from their current certification end date, without any household needing to submit a recertification form. For example, household benefits certified for one particular public assistance program through May 2020 will now be automatically extended through November 2020, and benefits certified through June 2020 will now be automatically extended through December 2020.
